Online Bahá’í EFL program needs volunteers

Dear friends,

Another semester will begin at the end of September, and we are again asking you to consider spending a few hours per week helping overseas students learn English in an important online Bahá’í-sponsored program.

If you enjoy talking with people from other countries and you are a native speaker of English, you can help by holding weekly conference calls with small groups of students through a free-access system.

If you have ESL or EFL teaching experience, we invite you to serve by handling online communications and grade assignments for 5-10 students through the course website.

Training is provided.

If you are interested in serving as a volunteer, please review the requirements below and send an email message to Joy at .  Please tell which of the service opportunities interests you and include some information about yourself.

Conversation facilitators need to:

  • Enjoy conversing with young people
  • Have native or near-native English speaking proficiency
  • Have available 2+ hours per week for six months, beginning late Sept. 2007
  • Have a computer at home with high speed internet
  • Take a short training course

EFL Course tutors need to:

  • Enjoy teaching and online community-building
  • Have a computer at home with high speed internet connection
  • Have ESL/EFL experience or equivalent
  • Have available 4-6 hours per week for six months, beginning late Sept. 2007
  • Learn how the course site functions (orientation provided)
